Referrals not coming through into Google Analytics

My client has a site at http://www.tzoonie.com

They are listed with Aboriginal Tourism at http://www.aboriginalbc.com here: https://www.aboriginalbc.com/members/tzoonie/

We weren't seeing any referral traffic from them so to test it I had a half dozen people at different locations in North America go through the site following the natural path to arrive at their listing and then click on the button to Visit Member Web Site.

Nothing is showing in analytics in the referrals area, so we have no idea if they have sent the client traffic or not.

Any idea why not?

I checked the source code at AtBC and this is what shows:

a target="_blank" class="same_width_btn" href="http://www.tzoonie.com/" onclick="ga('send', 'event', 'button', 'click', 'WR - ATBC - Ad Grant - Content - Members - Tzoonie Wilderness Resort - Visit Member Website', 1);">Visit Member Website

It is probably because it is forcing the link to open in a new window (target='_blank'). It is dropping the referral information because the new window didn't have a previous page.

Thanks. I guess I'll have to learn campaign tagging and get url paramaters over the aboriginalbc.com to append to tzoonie's link on their site.
