Property Hit Volume VS PageViews in GA reports not matching ?!

Hi Guys,

For property which has had 10,356 "Last day hits" in "Property Hit Volume", I got 5,268 pageviews for the same day in the default view under Reporting. My own tracking software (awstats) shows roughly 11000 pageviews (not hits! which are 205000) for the same day. It correlates directly / almost matches with Property Hit Volume number on a daily basis.

Why does default view show roughly half the number of actually loaded pages and does not match Property Hit Volume?

Is there some sort of filter in view?

What should I check?

This is the code we use:

<!-- BEGIN GADWP v4.9.1.2 Universal Tracking - https://deconf.com/google-analytics-dashboard-wordpress/ -->
<script type="text/javascript">
(function($){
$(window).load(function() {

//Track Downloads
$('a').filter(function() {
return this.href.match(/.*\.(zip|mp3*|mpe*g|pdf|docx*|pptx*|xlsx*|rar*)(\?.*)?$/);
}).click(function(e) {
ga('send','event', 'download', 'click', this.href);
});

//Track Mailto
$('a[href^="mailto"]').click(function(e) {
ga('send','event', 'email', 'send', this.href);
});

//Track Outbound Links
$('a[href^="http"]').filter(function() {
if (!this.href.match(/.*\.(zip|mp3*|mpe*g|pdf|docx*|pptx*|xlsx*|rar*)(\?.*)?$/)){
if (this.href.indexOf('website.si') == -1) return this.href;
}
}).click(function(e) {
ga('send','event', 'outbound', 'click', this.href);
});

//Track Affiliates
$('a').filter(function() {
if ('/out/'!=''){
return this.href.match(/(\/out\/)/);
}
}).click(function(event) {
ga('send','event', 'affiliates', 'click', this.href);
});

//Track Hashmarks
$('a').filter(function() {
if (this.href.indexOf('website.si') != -1 || this.href.indexOf('://') == -1) return this.hash;
}).click(function(e) {
ga('send','event', 'hashmark', 'click', this.href);
});

});
})(jQuery);
</script>
<script>
(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
(i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
})(window,document,'script','//www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');
ga('create', 'UA-XXXX-5', 'auto', {'allowLinker' : true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['websitewithoutwww.si'] );
ga('require', 'linkid', 'linkid.js');
ga('send', 'pageview');

setTimeout("ga('send','event','Profitable Engagement','time on page more than 5 sec')",5000);

</script>

How do I understand my analytic report? How do I know if I am successful?

Hello Hexa, I have been having problems with GA too, my page views went from o to over six thousand over the course of 18 months or so and then suddenly dropped off last September of 2015 and have been dropping off ever since though I have done nothing different. I found this link http://www.jellyfish.net/blog/what-you-need-to-know-about-google-analytics-hits/ which talks about in the "recent" introduction of ‘Property Hit Volume" which was supposed to improve things. This article was dated in October 2015. So my guess would be that this was introduced and implemented in August or September of 2015. This may why you stats are so off. I don't think GA is all that accurate.

September 2015 is exactly when our site analytics reports stopped populating. A year plus later it is still not resolved. Property hit volume is populated but reporting states no hits (since September 2015). Reached out to Google via 'feedback' (no response) but are helpless beyond that.
