Number of transactions does not match - Acquisition vs Ecommerce

I see different # of transactions when I check "Acquisition > Overview" and "Conversions > Ecommerce > Overview".

I only have this issue when a segment is applied. Here are the conditions of my segment.

Any idea about this one?

HI Betul,

Are you getting sampling? And are the numbers the same (with sampling) in both reports?

Hi Theo,

Yes, I work with sampling. I guess by numbers, you mean number of sessions in the sample. Yes, those are the same.

Betul

Hi Betul,

No I meant if you apply the segments to both reports, do you get the same numbers.

In any event, I suspect that sampling is playing a role here and is why you are seeing a discrepancy.

Hi again Theo,

No, I apply the same segments to both reports and get different numbers. When no segment is applied (when segment is "all users") there is no difference.

Also, only the number of transactions are different when segments are applied. All other numbers still match each other.

Best,
Betul

Hi Betul,

I think that confirms that you are just getting an artifact, an unexpected one but nonetheless, an artifact of sampling.
