Google shortened url doesn't track Mobile click throughs.

I'm using bluetooth to push goo.gl links to phones (physical web/beacons). And the analytics dashboard hasn't showed them clicking through. I read somewhere it took 24 hours or so for it to update, but it's been 24 hours and the goo.gl link only seems to capture access through desktops.

I took the https link I was sending them to, put it in goo.gl, and pushed that link.

I'd want to see how many mobile phones clicked through since yesterday (should be a peak number). Any idea how I can access this data?

Thanks!

Depending on the amount of traffic a site gets, reporting latency can sometimes be up to 48hrs.

Are you making sure to change the date range at the upper right to also include the current day as well, it doesnt by default

Also, have you looked at the google url shortener own analytics?

Thanks for Engaging!

This is my link:

Silly question

1) Do I need a GA account to access this data? Like, a paid one?

2) Is there a helpline I can call?

Thanks!

Ah sorry I didn't reply to your points.
1) yes, adjusted for day.

2) Yes, clicked it's own analytics bar. That's the only option I have Smiley Happy

Do you have analytics tracking setup on a site to report traffic on a site when someone lands on it from one of the shortened links?

I'm a bit lost with what it is you are tracking exactly..

Just tracking number of click throughs on that goo gl shortened link. Since
yesterday.
There's a dashboard on that website but I thought goo.gl would show me how
many people accessed it?

Hope that's clear.

Google analytics and google url shortener are two different things.

Google URL Shortener has its own analytics to track the clicks as per the screenshots above.

If you are trying to track ppl landing on a website page from a shortened url, usually the easiest way to do that is to 1) Have analytics installed on the website and then

2) add custom campaign tagging parameters to the url before you shorten it

the landing page pageviews can then be tracked in analytics and attributed to the custom campaign

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/

There is also the measurement protocol

https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/protocol/v1/

I still feel like i am missing/not understanding something in relation to your question.

Bronwyn,

Thanks for your reply.
Clear!

Looks like I goofed up by not setting up analytics on the target website
before hand. I saw the URL shortener tracking my visits to the website, so
I figured that would be enough.
Unfortunately it has not captured mobile click throughs for some reason.

I guess I have to redo the campaign? No way to go back in time and measure
the click throughs that weren't tracked? Because if people clikced on the
shortened link but they're not showing up, the data should
exist...somewhere. Yes?

Thanks!

I cant help you with google url shortener past what i have.. sorry.

Analytics wont measure historical data, only going forwards from the time it is configured and installed on a site.

You could maybe look at the website's server traffic logs if you have access to them re page traffic.

Hi Bahavesh I am doing exactly what you have written about above. And I believe if you just want to know how many people clicked on your link Google URL Shortener stats are sufficient. My problem is my stats are showing clicks are coming from America yet I live in London UK and my Beacons are in London UK so I don't know why the Stats are saying this, any thoughts?

Thanks
