Google analytics will not open, says there is a security problem

I have Goggle analytics for my Weebly web site.  After making Windows updates two days ago, when I try to open the statistics -- analytics.google.com/analytics/web/#report/defaultid/a9601957w21220204p19324348/ --

I get a message saying there is a security problem -- that my credentials cannot be verified.  The message says I should try to load the page again.  The error page, by the way, is dead in the sense there is interacting with it.

How can I get analytics to load properly?  Thank you.

Hi @Tom W,

There are a few things to try with this issue.

The first thing to consider is that you are trying to access a report that you do not have permission to see/access. Accounts can have users with different levels of permissions and if those permissions to not match up... you get the message you are seeing.

If it is your report, we should try this...

1) Make sure you are using the latest version of Google Chrome and that it is fully-updated. I prefer to use the 64-bit version.

2) Log out of your Google account, clear the browser (Ctrl+H) and disable any browser extensions like AdBlock, UBlock, or any that look odd or unknown to you.

3) Restart your computer.

4) Visit this link and log in: https://analytics.google.com/

Please let us know what happens.

Kind Regards,

James

Hello, James:

I updated the latest version of Google Chrome, and can now enter Google
Analytics. The same old "security problem" screen appears, but after I
close it, I have Analytics.

However, a new problem appeared... When I click on visitors flow, the ONLY
statistcs that appear are the country and "Share Button." All the other
information no longer appears. Since 80% of the fun of Google Analytics is
seeing where visitors are coming from and what pages they are looking at,
this is a major problem.

I wonder if the problem is not as follows: when I click back in the month
and last month, ONLY share button visitors appear. That makes me think
that, because I receive few visitors normally, that the flow information
has been suppressed because of the small sample size. All I can say is, I
did not have that problem last week: if there were only 4 visitors, for
example, from Germany and Italy I would know what pages they read.

James, I thank you for your help. The update was certainly an
improvement. I am thinking now of looking into the browser option you
suggested.

Best wishes, Tom

Hi @Tom W,

You are very welcome. It will be great when everything is perfect.

You certainly should be able to see everything you did before, as changing the web browser should not affect that. Google Chrome is ideally-suited for all of Google products & properties.

Do you, by chance, have Google Chrome view zoomed in? (Click on the three stacked dots in the upper right hand corner and look to make sure Zoom says 100 and not more or less. When it is changed, Analytics can rearrange the dashboard and/or leave out some info.

Also, can you remove any/all shortcuts to Analytics that may be on your desktop or bookmarks/shortcuts and use https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/ to access Analytics and see what happens?

Kind Regards,

James

Hello, Rising Star James:

Thanks for your latest contribution.

I did as you suggested. Google zoom was at 150%, I reduced it to 100%. I
also entered via
https://analytics.google.com/analytics/web/ . Unfortunately, the problem
still persists.

To run a test I entered my own web site via the Internet as any visitor
would do. The Weebly statistics picked up my visit. Google Analytics did
not record anything. That means visitors are not being recorded -- other
than the strange "share button" crowd that occasionally shows up.

I am at a complete loss as to how to proceed. "Visitors not being
recorded, and hence not appearing in the visitors flow statistics." That
sums up the problem.

I thank you for any further help you can offer.
