Google Analytics records retrieved less by adding more dimensions

I just found out that by adding more dimensions, records dropped, so the dimensions I added serve as a filter.

For example, I have date(5/10/2016), transactionID(100 unique transactionId) as dimensions, and sessions as metrics.

I added a third dimension, the transactionID records dropped to 43 and metrics number overall changed.

Is this a config issue or something i can resolve by API code?

Thanks

Some dimensions do not have (not set) values, so if there is no value, that row in the results is excluded. e.g. if you add event actions, and the event actions are empty for a particular combination, then that combination of date/transaction Id is not shown in the report.
