Goal completion versus pageviews

Dear all,

For my site I have a goal set to reach a certain page. The number of goal completions is 2.084.

The pageviews for the same page that is set as goal-completion are 2.936 (2.351 unique pageviews).

Why the difference between goal completion and pageviews? I don't have mandatory first step in my goal-funnel that could restrict traffic.

Best regards,

Sieto

Hi Sieto,

1. Goals are recorded once per session ao for instance if a user sees one single page 2 times within a session and that page is set as a destination type goal - goals completions will count 1 while pageviews will count 2 hence the diferrence

2. Mandatory / required 1st step only affects funnel visualization and not the goal completion count metric
