Hi,

A website that is no longer online (isn't even registered anymore) is still getting daily data. How is this possible? Can anyone just paste your Google Analytics code into any website? If so how can this be stopped or is their any other explanation?

Hi,

You need to check from which Domain/Host name the traffic is generating from? Yes there might be possible that code which you are supposed to using is already in use on some other web site by mistake.

If the data is from other unknown domain then apply a exclude filter to exclude the hits from that domain or include filter to include hits from only your domain.

Hope it helps.

Sam

How does one look what domains the data is from?

How does one apply a filter to include only data from the domain and the www subdomain?

Go to Behaviour -> Site Content -> All Pages and then select Host Name Against Primary Dimension (from Others drop down).

Here you will see all the domains from where you are getting the data.

Now you need to apply filter on unnecessary domains.

Below link will helps you to create filters:

Using a predefined include only hostname filter fixed the issue.
