GA not recording session data since we implemented Google Tag Manager

Hi

I'm having difficulty with GA recording session data since we implemented GTM. I have searched online for fixes but cannot find an answer. Is this an issue with the way I have setup GTM or could it be an issue with the code implementation on the site?

I would very much appreciate some advice.

Many thanks,

Nathan

Hi Nathan,

You can check your site with the Google Tag Assistant Chrome extension.

If you can share your site URL, we can look into it for you.

Hi Nathan I see that hits being sent to UA-92475514-1 is that the correct UA dashboard you are viewing?

Hi,

I checked your site, I can still see the Google Analytics tracking snippet in the source code, you need to remove it and to add the GA tracking tag through GTM. Please check the document below:

Once everything is ready, make sure that you're looking at an unfiltered view, because incorrectly set up filters can block all of the incoming data.

Hi Arnold,

Yes, I see it now, right there in the footer (I realise this is not optimum). I thought by switching to GTM the issue of where the GA tracking code should reside would no longer be a problem. I hadn't accounted for there being an overlap. That's excellent. I will ask my developers to look into this in the morning.

Once this is removed, I will verify if the issue is resolved in the raw data view as opposed to the test views I am trialling.

That's awesome, thanks so much for your help.

Best wishes,

Nathan
