Find which customers are hitting which page

We have a site that has a user/pass login.  Is it possible using GA to figure out which users are hitting what page?

Hi Rob,

You cant pass anything personably identifiable into GA but you could set a CRM ID or something either as USERID or as a custom dimension when someone authenticates.

More on both here:

User ID https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/3123662?hl=en

Custom Dimensions https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2709828?hl=en

Thanks! This is a asp.net website (not sure if that is relevant).

So say Rob logins in as rdejournett pass 1234

The userID feature doesn't tell google that rdejournett visited index.html right? It just says user ABCD visited index.html?

Any idea how to track which customers are hitting which page if not doable in GA?

Hi Rob,

When the log-in occurs you need to lookup a unique -- not PII (personably Identifiable - see Section 7 of GA terms of service) -- value to pass back into GA. This is usually done from a database key/CRM ID that is then passed dynamically into the Google Analytics Tracking Code either as the USER ID or as a custom dimension. You could also pass as a URL param and use Google Tag Manager to grab it and store is as either.

You'll need a developer. Smiley Happy
