Domain entrances via specific page

Hi everyone,

I have a specific question.

I want to know how many users entered our website via the homepage.

E.g. Say you have 10 visitors and a website consisting of only the homepage (page A) and one sub-page (page B).

5 take the following path:

Search engine/Type-In/Referrer Link -> page A -> page B -> Exit

3 take the path:

Search engine/Type-In/Referrer Link -> page B -> page A -> Exit

2 take the path:

Search engine/Type-In/Referrer Link -> page B -> Exit

I want to know how many people entered our domain via the homepage. Thus the answer should be 5.  The sessions seem to count all the users that were on the page, so 8, right? (At least that's what it seems like, comparing the numbers from GA to those from our other tracking tool.)

Thanks in advance for your help,

Alexandra

Hi Alexandra,

to get the # of sessions which started with page A go to:
Behavior > Content > Landing pages report and pick the page to see the # of sessions

to get the number of users (users metric) create a segment which says users who had page A as Landing page - apply that segment to the Audience or custom report and you will have the number of Users (unique cookies).
