One of my Sites has had a lot more direct traffic than they should over the last 6 weeks, seems to be direct from Virginia but its fake because its sending the bounce rate sky high,

FIrst question will this have any affect on my rankings?

Second how do I trace or stop it?

Can you access log to see if those visits are from the same ip address?
My first impression is that maybe some bots are crawling your site.

Is from an Amazon server most of it, I think its bots too, but more worried
about the bounce rate being so high and my rankings be affected by it, also
it could be a malicious wonder if there was away of stopping all the above

Hi Philip,

You don't have to worry because Analytic Data is not considered for Google rankings in any form, as recently confirmed by John Mueller, Webmaster Analyst at Google.

Hope it helps,
