Creating a report to make traffic spikes more normalised

Hi there,

I've been asked to create a website pre/post performance analysis (year-on-year) using GA. in 2015 the site experienced 2 major traffic spikes caused by a global event. This, of course saw sessions, revenue etc. go through the roof. In 2016, there wasn't such a spike.

I have to compare the two time frames, but the spikes from 2015 makes 2016 look like a loss. Does anyone have a formula/system that can be applied to the spiked traffic to get a more realistic view - a %, an average..... I'm open for ideas.

Thanks!

Hi Amye,

Simply create a segment that excludes the traffic spikes. Be careful of sampling.
