Combined "/" and "index.html" in settings resulted increase in bounce rate
I posted a question on whether or not connecting google search console in settings with HTTPS instead of HTTP could change the bounce rate (no response yet).
I asked the question in the web master central forum and it was brought to my attention during the same time the settings to combine "/" and "index.html" were changed, per Google recommendations. This resulted in lower non-bounce sessions but increase bounce rate.
Prior to change the "/" and "/index.html" hovered around the same bounce rate percentages (+/- 5 to 10% max diff). After the change it increased 25%; this affects direct and organic.
Has anyone else seen this happen or how to lower the bounce rate?
