Can traffic from facebook be split up in the Acquisition reports?

Hi,

We run a facebook page and a couple groups (both public and private), all sending traffic to our website. Was wondering if the Analytics reports can be split up accordingly? So that we can see how much traffic is coming in from the page and how much from the groups?

Hi,

In order to do that, you'll need to use custom campaign parameters.

There are basically 2 options:

1) To use UTM campaign parameters that are attached to the specific URL: https://ga-dev-tools.appspot.com/campaign-url-builder/

2) To use GTM and URL fragments in order to hide those ugly UTM parameters: http://www.lunametrics.com/blog/2014/09/09/death-utm-campaign-parameters/

Here you can read more about campaign tagging: http://www.annielytics.com/guides/definitive-guide-campaign-tagging-google-analytics/

Hope this helps.

Hi,

You can track traffic from Facebook as custom campaigns by adding campaign parameters to the links to your site on Facebook:

https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/1033863?hl=en

You can find the campaign URL builder here:

https://ga-dev-tools.appspot.com/campaign-url-builder/

There is a Facebook version also:

https://www.facebook.com/business/google-analytics/build-your-url

Hope this helps, let me know if you have questions.
