As far as I understood from

http://analyticsdemystified.com/analysis/better-ways-to-measure-content-engagement-than-time-metrics...

time spent on page when there no next page is detected

last event - start page time

I am sending

'Page Interaction' -  'Scroll '

events when user scroll on page.

Unfortunately, the average time on page is set to 0.

what am i missing?

Hey Elena,

Make sure that your scroll event is not set to non-interaction. As non-interaction events don’t effect bounce rate or time on site. So for example if user visits your site, perform scroll event after 1 min and leave, in case of non-interaction event time on page will be 0 and incase of interaction event it will be 1min.

Here is link you can use to better understand the issue http://cutroni.com/blog/2012/02/29/understanding-google-analytics-time-calculations/
