Are push notifications shown counted as a session in GA for Android?

Hi All,

I want to know if just showing push notifications are also counted as sessions in Google Analytics for Android.

The reason is, I see 0.8 screens/session after sending a push notification to my users earlier today.

How to avoid this or filter these sessions from overall sessions?

Hi Avinash,

I'm not sure if that applies to your situation but if your push notifications are sent by an Analytics event, that event may be defined by an 'non-interaction' attribute to avoid inflation of time and page metrics, see [1] for web-tracking applications. I don't see that in Android reference [2] but maybe [3] could be a solution to that.

Thank you Christoph!

Yes, I was not marking the event as non-interaction. This should fix my issue.

There is so much information on web analytics but so less on mobile apps analytics. Smiley Sad

If you can point out any, it will help me a lot!
