Are User still unique visitors?

Hi,

When GA changed their label from "Unique Visitors” into “Users”, the assumption I had was that the old definition remained, meaning Users = unique visitors, regardless of how many sessions during the date range.

The definition in GA now is Users = Users that have had at least one session within the selected date range. Includes both new and returning users

"Includes both new and returning users" - does this mean that Users is no longer a "unique" figure since its including returning visitors as well?

Thanks

Daphne

Hi,

Yes, still they are unique users only.

Within the given period, if user come for the first time(New visitor) and also 2nd time(returning visitor) then both will considered as single unique user but not as two users.

Hi Sam,

Thanks for the reply. It does look like its unique rather than a total.
Still find it confusing that google has "includes both new and returning users" in the definition =/

Daphne
