Another solution for Custom Dimensions.

I am looking for a solution to be used with a distributed product that handles multiple GA accounts. The custom dimensions will do what we want but because of the multiple accounts that we handle, we cant use the Index value.

Is there another avenue for us to take to implement this?

Hi,

Can you give more details about your setup? I'm not sure how do you mean you can't use the index value because of multiple accounts. Thanks.

We offer a form type site to multiple clients who use different variations
of our form. We have internal and external tracking with Analytics. By
using the Custom Dimensions internally it does the exact tracking we would
like. But because we have multiple clients using different Analytics ID's
we cannot be sure they will set up the dimensions the same way we have
intended because of the Index. Example: We create Custom Dimension index 1
and for them to see the results they have to set it up so in their account
they insert the Dimension but they already have index 1 created.

We would like to be able to offer a different solution than Custom
Dimensions but that will work similar.
Hope this makes sense.
Thanks for your reply!

Hi,

I don't think that there is a different solution that works similar to custom dimensions.
Regarding the indexes, if they already have dimension1 created and you are setting a value for it on the site, they will get it recorded in GA. They can edit the custom dimension settings in GA to get it set up correctly.
The only problem can be if they are using the same tracking id elsewhere and receiving custom dimension data.
