Analytics vs Webmaster Tools

I wanted to analyze the keywords which lead to my website.

In analytics it says I got 696 sessions due to organic search last month.

Webmaster Tools Search Console says we only got 229 clicks in the same period.

What's causing this difference and how can I solve it?

Also, of the 696 sessions in Analytics, 622 are (not provided) and 33 are (not set). How can I solve these?

Hi Giel
not set and not provided, there's nothing you can do about that. Google encrypts most of the referrer data and it's like that for everyone.

As for the discrepancy in clicks and sessions, well, this is normal too. A user can click to your site and have many sessions. A session only lasts 30 mins unless there's an interaction with the site. A typical use case for this is that a user would click on an organic link to your site and visit your site at different times during the week. Especially if they subscribe to your blog or if you have frequently updating information or if they're in the research phase of a buying decision.

What you're seeing is completely normal.

Hope that helps.
