Analytics not tracking real visitors

Hi all,

I just placed analytics in my website, however it seems to be tracking only spams, and not legitimate traffic.

How can I correct this issue?

I have already added filters to the tracker that is dealing with the spams. Now I need to see the legitimate traffic. I have already forced traffic onto the site, but they were not visible through the dashboard.

Filters only apply to data going forward, not retroactively.

you'll have to wait a bit to see only clean data.

Thanks for the response, however, it does not explain why I am not getting any real/legitimate traffic count! Especially when I know for sure that there are people visiting the site.

May be you went a bit overboard with filtering and are now collecting no data?

Hi there - double check that your filters are excluding spam, and not the other way around - i.e. including spam and excluding legit traffic.

Thanks for the response.

Maybe I was not clear in the original thread.

1. There was never an indication of legitimate traffic (although I know as
a fact that there were traffic) prior to my setting up the filters.
2. The filters (three rules thus far) are specific to the origination of
the spams, thus unable to block anything else.
3. At this moment, there is no reason that I am aware of that is preventing
the txt bots from collecting the trafficking data other than spam, none!

If anyone has this same issue, our had prior experience with this issue,
please lend me your expertise.

Thanks

Robert

Have you got an unfiltered view? If not, set that up as it will help you with your troubleshooting. I'd recommend visiting your own site from a number of different browsers and devices - check to see if the results appear in the real time reports, as well as using either Google Analytics debugger and/or dataslayer (both chrome extensions) to see if hits are actually being sent to GA. Compare both the unfiltered and filtered profiles; this can help you confirm whether your filters are blocking legitimate traffic.

Hi John,

Been there, done that, from phones (ios and android), and computers;
international, national and local points. Nada!

Thanks

the most likely explanation is that your tracking code is simply broken.

Can you share your site's URL?
