404 Page Showing as Top Landing Page

Looking over my Google Analytics today, I noticed that a 404 page is showing up as our site's top landing page. We recently built a new site and the page showing up no longer exists. I went into the Google Search Console and it doesn't show up as a crawl error. It isn't listed on our sitemap or anywhere on the new site. The page is getting traffic as a 404 page and I'm really unsure how to stop that. 35% of our site's traffic is landing on that page first. It's a page from the old site. How do I get it removed?

Thanks!

Hi,

I guess it's just because you've got backlinks and other websites are driving people to this page that doesn't exist anymore. What's the source/medium of this traffic?

If it's a good amount of traffic, maybe you should start using it again (free traffic)? Smiley Happy

Cheers,
