Spam traffic from US visitors (direct)?

Our danish website stila.dk (which is targeted on danish visitors and our targetgroup = denmark) keeps getting visits from the US. In total 40% of the visits are from location US and language EN, 98% of those visits are from the aquistion source: direct. The visits do have very low engagement rates: +90% bouncerate, low session duration and low pages/session. It completely looks like spam, but the traffic is from the direct source.

At first i thought it was a mistake of the visitors typing in stila.dk instead of stila.us; because Stila is a big cosmetic brand in the US. But the statistics show that it is going on for a long period now.

Does anyone have an answer to the question above? I would like to know why we keep on getting the US visits.

Hi E-commerce B,

check your Audience > Technology > Network > Hostname report if there are other hosts than yours (or one with "not set"). In this case, restrict traffic to your very site by an appropriate view filter.

For more on direct spam traffic see [1].
