Bot Spam within an App Account.

We created an app for use on iOS and Android that is launching very soon. I noticed that our GA account has a bunch of spam, most of which has come over the last couple of weeks.

I have done a lot of research on how to filter out Ghost and Crawler spam. The most common filter I am seeing for Ghost Spam is to set up an inclusion filter by Hostname where I add all of our relevant hostnames.

My question is how to I determine the hostname for an app? When I do a secondary breakdown of the acquisition sources by Hostname, all of the legit and spam results come up as "(Not Set)". Given there is no website or domain, how do I set up this filter using hostname?

The one other thing I will mention is the the app isn't 'live' yet. Once it is live will there start to be hostnames that I can use as filters?

The best way top avoid this is to set up a filter for you property / view such that is only includes data with a specified Application ID.
