Analytics Only Tracking Spammy Referrals

I set up analytics on my blog about a month ago, and at first it was fine, but for about the last 2-3 weeks, the only traffic it has been showing is from a couple of spammy referral sites.

Wordpress is saying I'm getting real traffic, Twitter & FB are saying they're giving me real traffic, and some posts have had social shares and comments, so I KNOW they're getting real traffic.

Hi Matt, there are no Google Analytics code on your website.
I would recommend to add Google Analytics code using GTM:

Thanks Alexy - simple answer! I had added the analytics code, but then changed my WP theme, which obviously got rid of it. Important lesson for us newbies!

Hi,

You can easily debug on the website with GA debugger:
https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/jnkmfdileelhofjcijamephohjechhna

You can check in chrome, console tab with 'Preserve log' turned ON.

Best Regards,
GA Guru.

'Star' or 'Accept as Solution' if it helped.

Hey, I have a problem causing by bots, too. I have about +1,500 Visitors through Google, but +200 attachments, came from bots like iloveitaly.co - How can I block them, so my stats are not false?

Hi GA Guru

The reply from Alexy definitely solved the main problem, but despite my limited knowledge of js, this seems like a really powerful follow-up tool. Thanks for the info!

Hi Beese

Despite being a newbie myself, happy to say I can pay forward the help I got above.
In your account, click on Admin, then under the Property column click on Tracking Info, then on Referral Exclusion List. Type in the dodgy URLs. Done!
