"ga:users" metric values gets changed to 1 when any filter applied

Scenario:  I am using ga:users metric along with the ga:date dimension to report the unique visitors on my portal for a particular day using Google Analytics core reporting API

This was working fine till last few days. The issue I am facing now is when ever I apply any filters in Google query explorer it shows ga:users as 1 for particular day even though the actual value is something else. This looks like some kind of issue because actually filters are not filtering anything, its only like when I apply filters value gets changed to 1. See the screenshots below -

Without Filters (Its showing ga:users count as 9)

Without Filters showing 9 usersWithout Filters showing 9 users

When Filter applied (Why ga:users count reduced to 1 ???)

With Filters why count is 1 ? Bug ?With Filters why count is 1 ? Bug ?

Just to show you filter is not doing anything actually (Printing the value of the dimension used for filtering)

Actually filter is not doing anythingActually filter is not doing anythingPlease suggest is there anything wrong that I am doing or its a bug recently introduced in Google Analytics Filters ?

Thanks,

Chirag VIradiya

What scope is ga:dimension7? can you add a screen shot of the request with the dimension7 and the filter applied? My suspicion is that ga:dimension7 is not a user scope but a hit or session scoped custom dimension, and is only defined for one user. That may explain your results.

Thanks Matthew for the reply.

ga:dimension7 is HIT scoped custom dimension but it is defined for all Users. Another thing is if I apply the exact same filters through dynamic segment then everything works fine and I get count as 4.

Now I am more confident that there is something wrong with Filters.

I do have a same problem from a week ago.  I thoughts this problem will be fixed soon but it doesn't.  I also use scope = hit type.  Most of time, ga:users is always 1 but then sometimes ga:users throws 5 or smaller numbers.

I am facing same problem again.  I was working fine yesterday but not today (2017-04-05).

I will lost valuable data once again!

As I figured last time, once this issue is fixed I will not be able to recover lost data.

I hope that someone responsible should state some official notice!

It got me crazy!
