filter subdomain

Hello,

My organization has a website (interise.org) that appeals to three primary target personas: funders, partners, prospective class participants, and class participants. Current class participants visit our homepage (interise.org) to then click a link on the homepage to access a subdomain (connect.interise.org). This subdomain provides access to course materials to registered class participants.

My question: How do I utilize a filter such that I can know how many participants are visiting our homepage in order to access the subdomain, versus those who are visiting our homepage, but not to go to the subdomain?

In other words, I want to know how many visitors are coming for content on the website, and how many visitors to our homepage are coming merely to access the link to access course content / the subdomain.

Please advise on the best way to approach this.

Thanks!

Would the Behavior Flow report give you enough information? https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2785577?hl=en especially if you create an event on the course link click?
