I am being counted as multiple new users, despite IP filters on

Hi guys, I filtered my IP address from everything, don't think it's working right.

I think it's counting me as multiple new users, because when I go to Audience>Geo>Location, most users are from my city (which is a small city and it's a new website, so I'm sure they are all me).

So not only did I filter my IP address and I'm still showing, but as NEW users. So it's giving me an inaccurate user count, and in other reports (IE, Acquisition, etc) it still is stating New Users (as I have in fact clicked into my site from different sources).

So it's really messing me up because when I go into these areas there is really no way to tell that it's me, but I'm sure it is because most of my traffic on this site is still me according to the Location/City report.

Could it be from clearing my cache constantly? But why is it not filtering me out, and still counting me as a new user?

Hope someone can help. Thanks in advance.

^ This has absolutely nothing to do with the question posted originally.

Does anyone have insight on this particular issue I am experiencing?

Hi Jewelzza L,

Can you post a screenshot of your filter configuration? Also, you should make sure you have entered the correct PUBLIC IP address (emphasis on "public"). You can verify you public IP by Googling "what is my ip".

Hope this helps.

Nicky,

Thank you so much for your reply. Sorry for the delayed response - I didn't get a notification of your message.

I took a screenshot of the Filters overview and inside the Filter with my IP - yes, it is the correct (public) one.

I noticed that I have used a Predefined Filter, and was looking on Google about Custom/Predefined Filters. Could this be my problem? If so, what should I do specifically different?

I hope you can provide some insight. Thanks again for your help Smiley Happy

Edit: I just changed it to a "Custom" filter, so far I do not see any difference with this change, unless it wouldn't go into effect until after the setting is applied.
