How do you segment users based on a direct landing page?

I'm hoping someone can help..

My team prefers not to use UTM tracking codes and instead create a new URL for a link on print. Is there any way to segment that URL to be able to see things such as demographics, site behavior, etc?

Hi,

You should create a specific advanced segment:

Landing page -> contains or exactly matches -> /landingpage

That's how you can do it:

That's how you can segment out those sessions where the entry point is a specific landing page.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes.

The advanced segment would be the best option.

Another option for the future (to get better attribution) could be to ask your web team to create a 301 redirect for the print link that redirects to the same page but with UTM parameters.

It's great seeing you here in the community @Samantha B. Smiley Happy

The 301 redirect method might be even better and more accurate solution for sure.

P.S. Lunametrics rocks Smiley Happy

Cheers,
