Help - Exclude IP Range not working...

Hello!

Please help, I can't seem to get this IP range filter to work properly!

Here is the original range:

172.17.192.0/19

Here is the resulting RegEx:

^172\.17\.(1(9[2-9])|2([0-1][0-9]|2[0-3]))\.([0-9]|[1-9][0-9]|1([0-9][0-9])|2([0-4][0-9]|5[0-5]))$

Which is entered as a Custom Exclude filter on the IP Address field and is not marked as case sensitive.

The filtered view is still recording the same number of sessions and users as the original. What have I missed?

Hi @Liz L :-)

You may want to try the following
^172\.17\.192\.([0-9]|1[0-9])$

Following tool is quite handy at times

Thanks Bronwyn,

The original IP range is in CIDR notation, which I forgot to mention above. The starting IP address is 172.17.192.0 and the last is 172.17.223.255 in the range, hence the more complicated RegEx.

The link you shared is exactly the tool I used too!

Still baffled. Smiley Sad

I know nothing of CIDR stuffs.. sorry

Is the analytics tracking on the site configured to anonymize IP information?

eta.. also are you only checking traffic from after the date of the filter was applied?
Filters don't work retroactively to remove data already tracked, they will only work

going forward as new data comes into the account..
