Does our exclude filters works correctly?

Hello,

Rolling off the original question, I set up the IP removal filter step by step in my test view account and looked in google tag assistant which shows:

Mutations
Hit dropped by filter Remove Internal Traffic

But when I start a new session in my browser then check GA, it's still counting it. I'm comparing it to my master view and they're both counting a session even though everything seems to be 'working'. Not sure what to do next?

Thanks,
Courtney

Hi @Courtney M :-)

is the tracking code configured to anonymize IP at all?

Hi - thanks for your reply. I'm not sure - I didn't set it up in any special way, just the normal procedure. Would this have happened if I enabled the demographics tracking?

No.. you are trying to block an ip.

If anonymizeIP is being used in the tracking code, then ip filters need to be configured a little differently

are you able to provide a link to the site so i can have a quick look at the code via browser?

something else to also keep in mind too.. sometimes real time can take a little while to catch up with changes,

also filters do not remove past historical data already tracked

thanks

Thank you :-)

Do you know if your IP is dynamic or static? Does your IP change?

If you  go to google.com and type into google search -

what is my ip

Does it return the same IP you have entered into your filter?

Are you able to provide a screenshot of the filter you have added?

Like Courtney I'm unsure if my filter is working and I find it hard to understand fully the messages from my tools...

I have a filter set up to exclude internal traffic based on a static ip (87.116.28.99) I have a feeling my filter isn't working but haven't been able to verify so I've installed Tag Assistant and record sessions

My first report shows:

"Mutations
Hit captured without modifications."

Then I go to change location and check Use specific location and type in my IP and then I get

"Mutations
Hit dropped by filter Dansk Energi IP / intern trafik"

Does that mean that my filter is working or not?

My website is www.danskenergi.dk

Thank you in advance!
