I'm looking to find more information on the cookie _gid from Google Analytics. Nothing is written on this from GA.

Is this a new cookie?

I can read that this cookie is used for visitor identification and good for 24h. It changed with every page view.

This cookie is used for tracking user journey from page to page on site.

Is there any effect on how Google Analytics track new sessions?

New sessions are normally happening when the source change right or after 30 minutes of activities?

Hi, Nic,

Yes, the _gid cookie is brand new and details of it are still unclear (at least to me). You can find a tad bit more info here (but you might have already seen this:

It should not impact how sessions are tracked though.
