duplicate GA code, previous owner code and no code on my site. need to clean. help

Hi, I have bought a website www.homeremedyhacks.com

From the previous owner(s), there are two instances of GA tracking code on the site on every page that I would like to remove but can't find anywhere.  For my code,  I have been trying out different GA plugins. Now, some of my pages have two instances of code, and some have none at all. Again I can't find where this code is saved to clean up.

I have looked in the header, footer and function PHP files but to no avail.

The only plugin that does any sort of tracking that is installed is jetpack.

Any help would be appreciated.

I did a quick check on your site - and yes, indeed, there are two tracking.

Do a "View Source" on your home page. Search for "analytics.js" - this is the right code and it's sending to UA-96204140-1. This code would benefit being moved to the end of the </HEAD> section.

Then search for ga.js. This one is sending to UA-97821350-12 and is using the legacy tracking method. I see this config has some custom tracking too.

Having two tracking sending to 2 UA# is not a super big issue. But I would recommend you work with your web developer and ideally, a GA specialist to review your whole implementation & configuration. You want to have trust in your data, and today's recommend method is to use Google Tag Manager to manage all your tags. A proper GA tracking is the foundation that will help you make smarter decisions and guide your marketing & content activities.

thanks.

Sorry, I am a newbie. When you say 'view source', how do you do that? Will this tell where the code is so I can delete fro the site? Also, what about the tracking code that appears on the homepage website in top left corner? i.e. visible to the world.  thanks

I'm sorry, I think you definitely have to talk to a web developer to help you out. You will not be able to simply view the pages and remove the code - your site seems to be using Wordpress, so you will need someone who can modify the templates for you. If this all sound like gibberish, definitely work with a Wordpress developer.
