Tracking Secure Site Version in GA Without Changing the Admin URL?

Hello!

We have a client who currently switched the preferred version of three of their sites to the secure version, but Google Analytics has the non-secure version listed in each profile. They are using the same Profile ID tracking code on the secure version of the site. Is GA tracking the secure site correctly in GA even if the correct URL is not entered in the Admin section?

Thank you for your help!

It will track regardless.. I could take their tracking code and put it on one of my sites and it will still track the data.
as the tracking and reporting is tied together by the tracking id.. not the domain name

Do the domains correctly redirect from the http vesions to the https versions?

Having said all that.. for consistency and following good practice.. any reason to not change the website url details in the Property Settings page and each View from http to https?

Thank you so much, Bronwyn! I really appreciate you taking the time to provide this answer. Smiley Happy

Yes, the redirects are working correctly. I needed to make sure what we are reporting to this client is correct for November, and we will recommend updating the Property Settings as well - or let them know that we are going to do it.

Have a great day!

Holly
