Tracking Omniture campaign id

We are moving from Omniture to UA. I am trying to track campaign codes in UA from legacy links that were using Omniture campaign id's. For example an incoming link could look like this: www.example.com/mypage?ocid=emc_20161031-SPP-Lapsed-Track-Email2-ID-CTA1

What is the best way to set this up in Google Analytics?

Would setting up a custom dimension called "ocid" which grabs the parameter work?

Is there a better way that will allow for simpler reporting?

Consider using a custom filter for the view of "advanced" type. These allow setting dimensions such as source/medium based on parameters such as URI
