Subdomain tracking via Google Tag Manager when using Enhanced Ecommerce ?

Hi,

I am trying to implement Enhanced eCommerce (via GTM) for a client that has a main domain on Wordpress (mysite.com) and his store on Magento (store.mysite.com). The GTM Container covers both domains. I have set the 'cookieDomain' to auto on the standard pageviews tag (in GTM) but I am now wondering whether I need to set 'cookieDomain' to the Enhanced eCommerce tags as well.

The reason why I need an answer is that the bounce rate for this customer has dropped to 6% since wemoved the store to Magento and implemented Enhanced Ecommerce.

Any input would be greatly appreciated,

Cheers,

Yohan

I would say that, by default, yes. Having cookieDomain: auto setting on in all tags ensures that the same Client ID is used everywhere across your subdomains.

If only your pageview tag has cookieDomain: auto, you should still be fine, as long as that one tag fires on every single page.

Hope this helps.

Hi Taavi,

I have implemented the change in the Enhanced Ecommerce tags and checked today but this did not impact the bounce rate as I had hoped.

Any other idea / input would be greatly appreciated

Cheers,

Yohan

Hi Yohan,

Could you please share both URLs?

It would help us to figure out what might be wrong.

Thanks,

Taavi
