Spaces in UTM tags and URL Encoding

Hello:

I am needing to know information about how Google Analytics interprets URL Encoding in UTM Tags.   Depending on how the URL is built in out ESP's software, some URL's have %20 for spaces in the UTM tags and others are using the plus (+) sign.

utm_source=SW+TRAN%20TEST%20Back%20In%20Stock%20Notification

utm_source=SW+TRAN+TEST+Back+In+Stock+Notification

Would the utm_source tags be interpreted as the same source by Google Analytics since both %20 and a plus (+) can represent a space in a URL?    We don't want tracking to be showing up on 2 different repirts for the same campaing.

Thanks!

Hi

Interesting question, Just did a small test and checked real time report and it seems GA treats %20 and + as same. So both URLs in your example will be treated as same URLs.
