Settings problems with IDN domain cause self referrals

We have Finnish domain työtuolikeskus.fi, which as idn is xn--tytuolikeskus-jmb.fi.

In Analytics property settings, Default URL have to be an IDN coded. But in Acquisition Reports there is uncoded työtuolikeskus.fi  domain as top referrer.

So Analytics algorithm sees them as different domains and this cause self referring, that ruins statistics.

Is there some setting/option to avoid self referring or is there some logical bug in the system?

This is kind of bypass solution for this problem. Does excluding this info affects on the other meters?
Is there any solution to give information to Analytics that both domains, IDN coded and uncoded, are the same?

Hi Dima,

we have a similar problem with our Punycode-domain www.xn--jobbrse-d1a.de.
Many referal traffic from the domian with Umlaut www.jobbörse.de

Did you find a solution for the wrong referals in analytics?

Thx in advance for your help.

Best regards
Markus
