Sending Client ID from Google Tag Manager to Google Analytics

I recently created a custom js varibale within google tag manager to allow me to collect the client id. How do I send this data back to google analytics and correlate it to a unique individual from my CRM system? I know a custom dimension needs to be created as well but I'm not sure how all of these parts connect. Thanks!

Hey Jared,

You are on the right track.  Create the custom dimension and use your JS variable in your GA tag to set the client id as a custom dimension AND send it to your CRM system as well.  Once you have it in both places, you can then join the data sets together.  You can also consider taking your CRM id and setting that as the userid.
