Not registering test traffic + no http response detected

Hello,

I'm running into two issues with GA, not sure if they're related. GA is tracking some traffic to my site, but I don't think it's showing me all of it. For one, I'm not able to register any hits with the "test traffic" function. And when I visit my own site in a new tab, it doesn't show up in the real time reports. In fact, I've been working from France this past month, but no traffic from France has been recorded — when I've been visiting my own site a ton! (And I don't have any filters set up).

Also, an error is showing up in Google Tag Assistant saying "no http response detected."

My web developer is also tracking GA on my site, but she said that I should be able to track GA separately with no problem. Could running multiple scripts be the issue?

Thanks for any help!

Hi @Emily M :-)
Multiple trackers can be used, just need to do some tweaking so they both receive hits

Edit your tracking code so it uses a tracker name

eg

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXX-Z', 'auto', 'emTracker');
ga('emTracker.send', 'pageview');

That may resolve the no http response too.

Are you able to possibly provide the url to the website so as i can take a quick look via browser?

Thanks :-)

Hi @Browyn V! My site is: https://bonvivantcopy.com/

Would I edit the code both on my website and in GA with a tracker name (not sure if you can edit the code in GA ...)?

Thanks so much!

I followed your instructions, and I think everything's working now! I'm able to see my own site visits reflected in the real time report, and the "no http detected" error went away. If you see anything iffy that jumps out at you when you look at my site please let me know — but thank you so much, Browyn!

Hi @Emily M :-)

You seem to also have a plugin installed - Monster insights which is also adding tracking code too

for tracking id UA-102746230-1. This is also sending data to google analytics

The following code should not be needed

<script>
  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
  })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

  ga('create', 'UA-102746230-1', 'auto', 'emTracker');
  ga('emTracker.send', 'pageview');

</script>

Two trackers for the one property are going to give you funky data.

Have to bare in mind, sometimes it can take up to 48hrs for data to appear in the standard reports from the time the hits actually occur.
and if you are using a plugin, i think if you are logged into WP, that plugin blocks admin visits by default from being tracked while that admin is logged in.

You will need to refer to their help docs to see
