Hello,

I've looked everywhere for a fix to this issue. I am using Google Tag Assistant to find the problem with this but I cannot figure it out. The code is copy and pasted exactly, at the top of <head> tag or at the bottom, it doesn't matter it gives me the same error and I can't see how to fix it.

I copied and pasted numerous times and read google's documentation on issues several times (for this all they say is to re-install the code).

My website is lavacloud.uk if it helps

http://domain.com

http://www.domain.com

https://domain.com

https://www.domain.com

should usually all 301 redirect to a single https url whether it be www or the non-www version.
Whichever one they redirect to, should then be what is entered into analytics in the Property Settings Default URL and the View Settings page as the website url

https://support.google.com/webmasters/answer/6073543?hl=en

I'm not seeing any error when i check with google tag assistant.
If you are seeing the error in the GA interface as a diagnostic message, if you know the setup to be correct, then click the option at the bottom of the diagnostic message to ignore it .. sometimes it issues false errors, or may find an error that gets corrected but then takes forever and a day to acknowlege the correction

Hi :-)

the 301 redirect needs to be correctly setup for the https

atm https://www.domain.com and https://domain.com are both available by browser.

the non-preferred version should be 301 redirected to the preferred version of the domain as both serve the same content (but they are not the same for tracking or seo purposes)

Once that is sorted out.. make sure the website url in the analytics property settings and any views settings is the preferred domain

Hello,

I still have the same issue, using wip.lavacloud.uk as test sheep here. The .htaccess redirects to prefered https://wip.lavacloud.uk from http connection or www and that is set in analytics settings as well.

@chan m :-)

I'm not seeing any issues in google tag assistant for your tracking code.

Cookie Domain in the tracking code is set to www.centurylandmgt.com where it should be set to auto

Also i dont know if the tracking code has been intentionally bundled into a single script tag with further code below it.

If not, then you may want to split the two lots of code into their own script tags.

@chan m

can you please read the response marked as "best answer" as the same applies to your website.

Also make sure when you check your site you are not logged in and your cookies and cache have been cleared.

I have cleared my browsing cookies and cache and have also log out of google. However, I still have a "no http response" when I check my tag assistant.

I do not think I have a 301 error on my website as my site is always redirect to https://

Thanks

Make sure there are no filters applied to the analytics View

I have cleared my browsing cookies and cache and have also log out of google.

Sorry, i should have been clearer.. i meant log out of your website/website admin, not google.

There is no canonical domain https://www and https://non-www versions of the domain are both accessible by browser

I'm not getting the tag assistant error. Sometimes if you are logged into a website administration area, you will get an error, depending on how a plugin handles tracking of logged in admins.
