New to track traffic for > 25 Subdomains in Google Analytics

I need to be able to track site traffic of the main site domain along with 28 subdomains. I believe that the maximum amount of views is 25 (i.e. I can only set-up 25 subdomains including the main domain).

1. What are the best practices for setting Google Analytics for the main domain, and then for the 28 subdomains? 2. Will I need to create two separate Google Analytics Accounts and split them up? If so, how do make the main domain the default?

Thanks
