Linker Disabled. Ignoring linker parameter

Hello,

We have:

<script>
  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
  })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

  ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true} );
  ga( 'require', 'linker' );
  ga( 'linker:autoLink', [ 'sourcewebsite.com', 'subdomain.destinationwebsite.com' ] );
  ga( 'send', 'pageview' );
</script>

And the destination:

<script>

(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){ (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o), m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m) })(window,document,'script','//www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['subdomain.destinationwebsite.com'] );
ga('send', 'pageview');

</script>

In my GA account, I can see traffic to the destination website as it's my own domain, but the source is always a referral from sourcewebsite.com. When I check the java console when moving from one domain to the other, I see "Linker Disabled. Ignoring linking parameter: then it lists the  clientID.

Any ideas?

Hi,

You need to add both domains to the Referral Exclusion List in Admin -> Property -> Tracking Info -> Referral Exclusion List.

Use this on the source domain:

<script>
  (function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){
  (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o),
  m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m)
  })(window,document,'script','https://www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

  ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true} );
  ga( 'require', 'linker' );
  ga( 'linker:autoLink', [ 'destinationwebsite.com' ] );
  ga( 'send', 'pageview' );
</script>

And this on destination domain:

<script>

(function(i,s,o,g,r,a,m){i['GoogleAnalyticsObject']=r;i[r]=i[r]||function(){ (i[r].q=i[r].q||[]).push(arguments)},i[r].l=1*new Date();a=s.createElement(o), m=s.getElementsByTagName(o)[0];a.async=1;a.src=g;m.parentNode.insertBefore(a,m) })(window,document,'script','//www.google-analytics.com/analytics.js','ga');

ga('create', 'UA-XXXXXXX-X', 'auto', {'allowLinker': true});
ga('require', 'linker');
ga('linker:autoLink', ['sourcewebsite.com'] );
ga('send', 'pageview');

</script>

Let me know if it works.
