Implement Analytics on New Site with Same URL

This is very much a newbie question but I cannot seem to find a concrete answer...

I have redesigned a site on a new host and am ready to implement analytics with the owner's existing analytics account (from the old site to the new site). The URL will not change - just the hosting provider. What are the best practices for making this change?

Will leaving the site temporarily active on the old host (after updating the DNS records to the new host) affect anything?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Hi Ross,

You can simply copy the GA tracking code from the old site (on the old host) to the new site (on the new host) --- No need to change anything. Once you switch the DNS records to the new host, the GA will begin to capture traffic from the new site, seamlessly.
