Iframe causing 2 users with different Source / Medium

Hi All,

Hope you are all well and business is booming!

I am having some trouble with tracking one of my clients websites.

The Structure

My clients website uses Savoy systems (a payment provider) to carry out their conversion process which is pulled in by an Iframe.

When a user hits the page containing the iframe, I can see in the real time report that the user splits into 2 different users with different source / medium's.

This is making all the users that go through the conversion process too be Direct / none.

What i have done

I have configured cross domain tracking, but this hasn't solved anything.

If you could share a solution, it would be much appreciated.

Kind Regards

Terry

Hi Terry,

You don't need cross domain tracking, only add the payment provider domain to the referral exclusion list.
Admin -> Property -> Tracking Info -> Referral Exclusion List
This will prevent triggering a new session.
It will not work for returning users who have the source set to the payment provider domain.
They will disappear once the campaign timeout is reached. This is set in Admin -> Property -> Tracking Info -> Session Settings. Hope this helps.

Once the configurations are done, it won't update historical data.

It will only work moving forward.

Hi,

Thank you for your reply.

I set all this up and applied this to a new view over a month ago, it is still happening. I have even tested it myself within a test view using the real time report.

If you got any other suggestions it would be much appreciated.

Kind regards
Terry

As Arnold said: It will not work for returning users who have the source set to the payment provider domain.

You might have to wait for camapign cookie expiration. which is 6 months by default in GA.

can e configured as: https://support.google.com/analytics/answer/2795871?hl=en
