I keep getting the error "URL ends with an invalid top-level domain name"

I am attempting to register our Intranet site with Google Analytics and I keep receiving the error "URL ends with an invalid top-level domain name". We're in a secure environment so I'm selecting the https:// options from the drop down and then pasting this URL in the box: thevaultdev.prk.local

Any thoughts or suggestions of things to try to resolve this issue?

Thank you!

Hi Katie :-)
Not ideal but you can use a 'dummy' domain name of your choice.
The tracking code should work regardless as its tied to the tracking id (UA#)
not a domain name
Eg i could put your tracking code on my site and you would see the data for my site in your
GA reports.

Hi Bronwyn,

I am trying to register a corporate intranet website in GA, but it is giving the same error in the URL. With whom can I use this dummy url thingy?

@Finweb T

When you setup the analytics account and it asks for a domain name.. enter a dummy url eg https://ourintranet.com
