How to track gift products in Enhanced Ecommerce

Hello,

I want to track my gift (or free) products in ecommerce events, but there is no extension for this. How can we track gift products? Is just increasing quantity but holding price same, enough for this? Are there any other solutions?

Thanks.

no that won't work because GA will overwrite based on product ID.

You may need to create a separate SKU/product ID for the free product

Set price to zero and add product-level custom dimension that says 'gift' ?

Hi Julien,

Correct me if I am wrong, you said I should add another item that price is zero and has a custom dimension says gift? Then there will be same item definitions that contains same productId. Is it correct?

I'm saying that if the product is a gift, set (replace) price to zero and set custom dim to "gift"

I understood, but what about quantity? For 1 gift and 5 normal products for same product (total 6), is it correct to send them separately with same productId?
