Events being recorded but not the categories, actions, or labels

I have a page with several links for displaying selected videos as popups over the page. Each time I click one of these links, the following code is executed:

ga('send', 'event', {

  eventCategory: 'XYZ_Video',

  eventAction: 'Play',

  eventLabel: this.href

The events are being reported in the Google Analytics dashboard, but the following values are being reported for them:

  • Event Category: Outbound
  • Event Action: [the name of the host from which the video is being retrieved, in this case]
  • Event Label: [the relative path of the video on the host]

I get the same results when I use this syntax:

ga('send', 'event', 'XYZ_Video', 'Play', this.href);

 Why is GA ignoring the values I'm assigning to these properties?

Hi Harlan,

It sounds like you already have a listener deployed that is automatically detecting these clicks and passing them into GA before your code fires.

Some players have integration available, e.g. Flo player, etc.
