Event Tracking code with ga.js code

Hello everyone!

I would need to track the clicks on some ad banners (not Adwords) and was thinking that event tracking could be the best way to go. Since I’m not too familiar with event tracking I was looking for some info, and first thing I found is that event tracking is now different with js.

The site I need to track is still using ga.js so my question is: if I use the event tracking code for ga.js will it still work or is it not going to work anyway, and I should migrate the site to .js first?

Thank you for your help! Smiley Happy

Cheers

Elio,

You can still find the ga.js event tracking guide here:
https://developers.google.com/analytics/devguides/collection/gajs/eventTrackerGuide

GA will still, for now, accept any hit that comes from legacy code like this. Personally I would migrate to GTM and use analytics.js as sometime in the coming years you will have to anyway.
