Encoded emails addresses in GA

Hi,

I know you cant have any PII inside GA, i was wondering if i could encode email addresses in GTM with JavaScript and then pass it to GA as a custom dimension. So in GA the email address would look something like "dGVzdEB0ZXN0LmNvbQ==" i can then do the same in my back end database and use the encoded string as the unique identifier to match/analyse offline data with GA data.

Thanks

Wahid

You could simply assign a unique key and pass that over. Since google doesn't know your key, they can't use it to personally identify someone.
